Bubble Bursting
From JUOD
Bubble Bursting is a living document thought by scholars to be originally written by Harley P. Mathewson as an instructional guide to time travel. Proponents of the Time Travel Theory believe this to be one of the missing volumes to the Verities of Joining or possibly the remaining two thirds of I Know a Secret & I Want to Shout It from a Mountain Top, but Since I'm Stuck in a Spiny Coccoon I'll Simply Write About It & Share It with Someone Later. Although the content of the manuscript has changed over time, one tenet has remain constant: that time travel should only be attempted by those with a joinish heart, a non-feeble mind, a taste for blood, and an immortal soul.
History of Publication
In June of 1860 the first version of Bubble Bursting allegedly made its way from St. Joseph, Missouri to Sacramento, California via the Pony Express. The package contained a letter and a twenty pound lead weight. The letter, allegedly written by Mathewson, claimed that if the note was not forwarded to 30 people, the recipient would meet certain death. The contents of the letter are mostly unknown, but it is believed that they included some basic rules for time traveling and an elaborate blueprint of a crude time machine. Pioneer Village in Minden, Nebraska claims to have a machine based on this design on display near its old time-y clothes washing exhibit. As of today it is unknown whether anyone successfully traveled through time using these plans, but there are several recorded instances in the 1860s and 1870s of people dying by electrocution in large metal cages that are similar to the one in Pioneer Village. Versions of the original chain letter are rumored to exist today in the form of an email chain letter, but because of the described harsh consequences is only forwarded by emo and goth tweens and even then is usually caught by email filters.
In 2002, Bubble Bursting took on its current form as an open wiki. Since then, over 20,000 new pages have been created mostly by conspiracy theorists, amateur physicist, and spammers. Some notable contributors to the wiki are hpmatty and dino_samich_ftw, who have famously authored many of the earliest entries, as well as the more recent p3n15_pump_sexbot18, nig3rian-prince-2937, and stephen_hawtking.
Bubble Bursting Convention
The online Bubble Bursting community has decided that since time travel does not exist to the layperson in the early 2000s, that they should preserve a message to future time travelers to meet at a specified time and place for the first (and only) time traveler convention. Unfortunately, because the message is being preserved on a public wiki, it is thought that the time and date of the meeting have been changed several times in the future to meet others' selfish needs or to advertise a variety of male enhancement supplements.
Influence of Joining
Though Bubble Bursting has had many forms, a core set of beliefs and rules have survived from the earliest known versions of the document. Most scholars believe that this information has survived largely because of its joinish content.
