The Vagaries of Joining, written by Luther Looshtag, are a counter-treatise to the better known Verities of Joining by Harley P. Mathewson. The full name of the series is:

The Vagaries of Joining: Figures or Texts Concerning or Relating the Wondrous Benefits, Either Timely or Fortunate, of a Life Most Tasteful or Famous, as a Result of Separating or of Heeding or of Obeying the Vagaries of Joining

Looshtag claims that the full title is vague because he has distributed several revisions to his STAL peers for review, but because most live in extremely remote areas he is not entirely sure which versions are in circulation and which ones have simply been left and locked in post office boxes.
